After the dismal performance in World Cup, West Indies coach Bennett King has decided to resign from the post. Interestingly, this World Cup has so far seen four coaches resigning after their team ouster. It is worth mentioning that Indian coach Greg Chappell, England coach Duncan Fletcher and Bangladesh coach Dav Whatmore have already resigned after the end of their respective team campaigns.
As a coach, King has had a hard time in West Indies. First, there was contract issue between players and board which saw them fielding second string side against South Africa and Sri Lanka.
West Indies struggled to win test matches during his reign but in one day matches team showed some signs of improvement. Reaching the final of ICC Champions Trophy last year and beating India in the one day series was the high point of King’s career. King’s decision to quit as coach leaves struggling West Indies team with some more headache just before the important tour of England.
